EB-6037, Rails to Trails Program

Narrative
At its October 9, 2019 meeting, the DCHC MPO Board directed staff to provide additional information on STIP Project # EB-6037, Rails to Trails Program. This program focuses on opportunities to partner with eligible TAP (Transportation Alternative Program) recipients to secure rail corridor rights-of-way for multi-modal trail use. NCDOT announced the program in June of this year with an application deadline in July. The funds have been awarded to projects in the City of Shelby/Cleveland County ($4.16 million), Henderson and Transylvania counties ($6.4 million), and the City of Greensboro/Guilford County ($4.44 million).
