High Impact-Low Cost Call for Projects FY2020-2021 (10 minutes)

Narrative
A call for projects has been released by NCDOT Divisions 5, 7, and 8 for the High Impact-Low Cost (HILC) program. The HILC provides funding for small highway projects that could produce a large improvement in traffic flow and/or safety but may not score well in SPOT. Each division is expected to receive from $1.5M to $2M for HILC for each of the next two fiscal years. These projects are also expected to be implemented quickly, so they should not require extensive planning and design, ROW, or utility relocations. Examples include restriping, shoulder widenings, traffic signals, and small intersection improvements.
If you have a project to submit, provide a detailed description, map, and cost estimate (if available) of your project to Aaron Cain of the MPO staff. The deadline for Division 7 projects is December 3; the deadline for Division 8 is December 7. At this time no deadline has been given for Division 5.
