Narrative
The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) is developing a wildlife crossing plan for its planning area. This study will identify, evaluate, and make recommendations to improve road crossings for consideration in local, state and MPO transportation planning processes and documentation. The DCHC MPO is conducting this study to identify transportation improvements in the MPO area to help protect the natural environment while also prioritizing safety, the elimination of wildlife-vehicle crashes, economic impacts, and loss of life.
This informational presentation will include a background on wildlife crossings, local ongoing wildlife crossings efforts that the MPO will partner with and build upon, and a summary of the MPO’s planning process.
